Challenge:

A leading cable operator (hereafter referred as “Cableco”) in Hungary owned an analog cable system with 20,000 subscribers. Facing the stiff competition in the market, the operator considered digitalizing its cable system including the headend and receivers. To improve the return on the investment, Cableco was looking for a cost-effective headend/CAS/receiver solution with reliable quality. For this reason, Cableco turned to China searching for a professional supplier with presence in Eastern Europe.

Solution:

In the last three years, WellAV has helped operators successfully set up the digital cable system in Romania and Bulgaria. This provided WellAV a good understanding of the broadcasting environment and Cableco a good reference on WellAV products. After testing equipment and working with several suppliers, Cableco decided to choose WellAV given the reliable product quality, reasonable prices and committed customer service. Based on the customer request, WellAV developed an 80-channel cable system blueprint and subsequently guided Cableco through the whole project. After the installation, WellAV continues to provide technical services and products to help improve the system. Currently, the system runs well and the customers are considering WellAV’s EPG/Video server system to enhance its offering to subscribers.
